The Banknote Museum exhibits a collection of Greek currency from the 1820s to the present day, all in all around 2,000 pieces. It includes such monumental moments as Greece's shift to the Euro in 2002. The museum was founded in 1981 by Ionian Bank, which later merged with Alpha Bank. The collection is the most complete of its kind.
